Residential/Commerical Energy Audits

An energy audit is the first step to determine how much energy your home, business, church, school or commercial space consumes and to evaluate the steps to take to make that facility more energy efficient. An audit will show you problems and improvement that can save money and energy over time when corrected.

Anchor Insulation follows BPI standards and NIA standards when performing energy audits. Our auditors are BPI and NIA certified.

The audit includes:

  • Appliance, lighting and HVAC inspection
  • Building envelope inspection
  • Visual inspection of the attic
  • Visual inspection of the basement or crawl space

A blower door test is done to test the envelope of the building. The test determines the amount of air that escapes or intrudes the home when it is under a specific amount of air pressure.

After the initial audit is performed, our team will recommend the steps to reduce the overall energy use in your building.  After all recommended improvements are made, a post test can be done to determine the impact of the improvements.

Energy audits can be completed on both existing buildings and buildings that are under construction.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in the United States, buildings account for 39 percent of total energy use, 68 percent of total electricity consumption and 38 percent of the carbon dioxide emissions. Controlling greenhouse gas emissions from buildings can have a dramatic impact on the environment.
