Energy Audits
Although energy audits first became popular in the 1970s during the energy crisis, there is a significant demand for energy audits now due to the increased cost of energy as well as an increased awareness of the impact of greenhouse gases on our environment.
Simply put, an energy audit is an inspection and analysis of energy flow through a building to reduce the amount of energy used by a building. The energy efficiency of a house is evaluated by a certified auditor using professional equipment (such as blower doors and infra-red cameras). The audit analyzes resistance to heat flow (R-value) as well as air leakage from the building or air infiltration into the building. Auditors look at a home’s insulation as well as seals around doors and windows, HVAC systems, the efficiency of appliances and other areas.
Anchor Insulation follows BPI standards and NIA standards when performing energy audits. Our auditors are BPI and NIA certified.
