A revolutionary new "Space Age" material called Aerogel has for the first time been made available in products designed for use as an insulator for steel and wood frame buildings. Called Spaceloft Insulcap, this extraordinary new insulator will provide hundreds of dollars in energy savings per year for the average homeowner.

First invented back in 1931, several decades passed before a cost effective way to manufacture Aerogel, the lightest material known to man was developed, using nanotechnology. Spaceloft Insul-Cap is made of a 3/8" thick strip of flexible Aerogel blanket, the world's most efficient insulation material. The strips are applied onto a building's framing, inside or outside, prior to sheathing.

Spaceloft Insul-Cap's thin 3/8" profile allows it to fit between framing and sheathing without altering standard construction. It is applied in strips with a peel-and-stick adhesive backing or staples. The strips can be customized to fit on headers, rim joists, corners, rafters, window flashing and other hard-to- insulate areas.

Almost any residential insulation project is one of the most eco-friendly options a homeowner can make, due to the energy-savings involved alone. But Spaceloft Insulcap is an especially environmentally sound choice. Scientists have called it "the ultimate sponge" thanks to its millions of tiny pores. These pores make it unmatched for absorbing pollutants. The lightest solid on earth, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Aerogel is ninety six percent air and the remaining four percent is silicon dioxide, the same material used to make ordinary glass. It easily and safely breaks down into miniscule amounts of ordinary silica.
